Frequently asked questions
Is Roll Up a Character just an ability-score roller?
No. It generates a complete, rules-accurate D&D 5e character sheet — stats, spells, class and subclass features, equipment, a backstory, and a portrait — plus NPCs, monster statblocks, and CR-balanced encounters. A deterministic rules engine does every calculation; the AI only makes the creative choices.
Does it handle multiclassing?
Yes. Describe a split like "rogue 3 / monk 9" and it computes the combined caster level and combined spell slots, checks the ability-score prerequisites, keeps Warlock Pact Magic separate, and scales each class's features — for both the 2014 and 2024 rules. There is also a dedicated multiclass spell slot calculator.
What levels does it support?
Every level, 1 through 20. Every derived number scales — proficiency bonus, hit points, spell slots, spell save DC, and ability score improvements.
Does it cover spells and class features?
Yes — full spell lists (levels 0–9) validated against your class and level, the correct cantrip and prepared/known counts, spell slots, save DC, and the L1–20 class and subclass feature text.
Can I export to Foundry VTT or Roll20?
Yes — one-click export to both, plus printable character sheets and shareable permalinks.
Which rules — 2014 or 2024?
Both. A toggle switches between the 2024 rules ("5.5e", SRD 5.2, the default) and the 2014 rules (SRD 5.1).
How many classes and subclasses does it cover?
All 13 classes — the 12 core classes plus the Artificer — and 40+ subclasses (the full 2024 Player's Handbook roster, four per class, with a broad 2014 set too), not one per class. Plus the full species roster for each edition. Multiclassing across any of them is supported.
Can I choose a feat?
Yes. Name a feat in your prompt — like "a fighter with Great Weapon Master" or "a sharpshooter ranger" — and it's applied in place of an Ability Score Improvement, with its effects reflected on the sheet. Popular feats are supported, including Sharpshooter, Great Weapon Master, Polearm Master, Sentinel, War Caster, Tough, Resilient, Mobile, and Alert.
Is it free?
Yes — free, no login.
