Create a character
Describe a hero in a sentence — get a complete, rules-accurate sheet with stats, gear, spells, a backstory, and a portrait.
Built on the D&D 5e SRD — 2024 (“5.5e”, SRD 5.2) by default, 2014 (SRD 5.1) one click away.
What it does
This free D&D character creator turns a one-sentence idea into a complete, rules-accurate 5e character sheet in seconds — stats, gear, spells, a written backstory, and a matching portrait. Whether you want to build a character from scratch, generate one at random, or make a hero to a precise concept, it covers levels 1–20. No login, no paywall.
What you get
- A full character sheet — abilities, AC, HP, saves, and skills.
- Spells picked and validated against the rules for your class and level.
- Starting equipment and a written backstory.
- A matching AI portrait.
- Foundry VTT & Roll20 export.
Levels 1–20
Every derived number scales with level — proficiency bonus, hit points, spell slots, spell save DC, and ability score improvements. Pick any level from 1 to 20; most tables start around level 3, where subclasses come online. The rules engine recalculates the whole sheet so the math is always right.
Builder or generator — your call
Use it as a character builder by choosing race, class, background and level from menus, or as a character maker and generator by describing your idea in plain language and letting it fill in the details. Either way you get the same complete, table-ready result.

Frequently asked questions
Is the character creator free?
Yes — completely free, no login and no limits to roll up a character.
What levels does it support?
Every level, 1 through 20, with full SRD support. Most tables start at level 3, where subclasses unlock.
Do I have to describe my character, or can I pick from menus?
Either way. Describe a hero in a sentence and let it build, or choose race, class, background and level from menus. The engine does all the math regardless.
Does it use AI?
Yes — the AI makes the creative choices and writes the backstory, but a deterministic rules engine does every calculation. So the numbers are accurate, not hallucinated.
Can I export to Foundry VTT or Roll20?
Yes — export to both.
Is this official D&D content?
It is built on the System Reference Document — both SRD 5.1 (2014) and SRD 5.2 (2024), CC-BY-4.0. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast.
Which D&D rules does it use — 2014 or 2024?
Both. A Rules toggle switches between the 2024 rules (“5.5e”, SRD 5.2) and the 2014 rules (SRD 5.1). 2024 is the default — backgrounds, feats, species traits, and weapon mastery follow the edition you pick — and 2014 is one click away for tables still on the classic rules.
How are ability scores set?
Using the standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8), assigned to fit your class and concept.
